In an unprecedented show of celebrity support, over 35 million people learned about Redbox’s Halo Pet Foundation promotion of “Shelter Me.”

Ellen DeGeneres tweeted her 18.7 million followers, urging them to visit Redbox and rent "Shelter Me" – which features two 30-second Halo sponsorship commercials

Katherine Heigl (who hosted the film) shared the good news with her 420K followers. August 30 was National Holistic Pet Day and once again, Halo got pet parents – and media – talking about holistic pet food.

To honor holistic pet day, Halo surveyed nearly 850 pet parents about what they believe the term “holistic” means when it comes to pet food. The survey results, along with Dr. Donna Spector’s article “Let Food Be Thy Medicine” were well received, landing Halo in the media – and right in the middle of the National Holistic Pet Day discussion.

In 2010, ChiChi stole hearts across the globe in a Good Morning America appearance where his owners revealed that the little poodle's secret to longevity was his favorite food, Halo's Spot's Stew.

After The New York Times first shared news of ChiChi's passing with its 1.1 million daily readers, others like the Associated Press, The Gothamist, and many more also paid tribute to the poodle.

Many stories mentioned the finicky ChiChi's preference for Spot's Stew and a  Freekibble.com donation of Halo made in his honor.

An estimated 16.5 million people read about Uncle ChiChi's passing when nearly 170 outlets ran the Associated Press article. Leading outlets including The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC, The Washington Post, San Francisco Examiner, The Miami Heral, ABC News, the Boston Globe, and many others covered the story.

A video of ChiChi enjoying Halo made the rounds as well, appearing in The Huffington Post, The Gothamist and AOL Pawnation, among others, with more than 20,000 views in just a few days.

Customers Spread the Word About Halo in Social Media

In December, Halo reached Facebook, Twitter, and email newsletter subscribers with over 7 million messages about Small Breed Spot's Stew for dogs, Grain-Free Spot's Stew for cats, holistic pet care advice, coupon offers, the Freekibble Holiday Drop and more. Because of word of mouth, Halo received over 4,000 new newsletter subscribers this month. In addition, the Halo Facebook fan page received more than 10,000 likes, shares and comments while Halo's Twitter messaging reached more than 6 million impressions thanks to Freekibble, Petco, Liberty Humane Society and many of our loyal followers.
