Pet Product News Showcases Halo’s Philanthropic Focus
PPN’s “Paw it Forward” story showcased Halo as an example of a company committed to philanthropy. “For each of the last few years, Halo has been able to donate 10 times the national corporate average (per consumer dollar). We’re very proud of that,” says David Yaskulka, VP of marketing communications. The feature offered insights from Halo about how retailers can best partner with manufacturers for successful adoption and fundraising events, something Halo does frequently. At pet industry power trade show, SuperZoo, Halo stood out among exhibitors with their Olate Dogs partnership and performances throughout the event.

Pet Product News Gives Halo’s Senior Formula Editor’s Choice Award
Halo is honored to share that PPN’s editors have selected Halo’s Senior Wet Formula canned dog food one of its favorite products of 2014. Editor’s Choice Awards go to products “that stand out for their innovation, function or design, or a combination of the three.” The winning product comes in easily digestible Ground Beef and Ground Chicken formulas and includes glucosamine and chondroitin to support healthy joints. Like all Halo products these formulas for seniors contain no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, chicken meal or other rendered animal parts.

Halo is a finalist in the PR News Platinum PR Awards, a prestigious, national awards competition recognizing the best in PR and marketing programs.
Halo’s campaign, “Halo, Purely for Pets Helps Homeless Pets Win Big in Oscar Gift Bags” is a finalist in the WOW! Award category, which honors “the most innovative, out-of-the-box PR campaign or paradigm-shifting communications idea of 2014.”
The campaign was centered on gifting Oscar nominees with large food donations to their favorite rescue or shelter. The campaign attracted exceptional media attention and the overall from media, consumers and retailers was a resounding, “WOW! Why didn’t anyone ever think of that before? That’s what every company should do!”
Other finalists include American Greetings, Honeywell, Liberty Mutual, NBC’s The Tonight Show, and MWW’s New Jersey “Stronger than the Storm.”

Pet Age Features Halo and Adopt-a-Shelter Partnership
Pet Age recently shared news that Halo is Adoptashelter.com’s exclusive pet food partner. Adoptashelter is an online shopping portal that links to more than 500 retailers. When customers purchase at those merchants, they generate a donation to their favorite rescue. The partnership supports Halo retailers both online and off with greater exposure for the food and Halo’s passion for philanthropy.

Halo Talks With Pet Age About What Natural Means to Halo
In the June issue of Pet Age, Halo weighed in on what natural means to Halo and how it differs from other natural brands. Halo’s VP of marketing communications, David Yaskulka, says: “For us, chicken meal and other rendered animal parts don’t fit the Halo definition of natural. They can contain ‘4D’ products, which are diseased, disabled, dying and dead (prior to butchering) animals. We won’t use any of those.”
Best Friends Animal Society Celebrates Halo and Freekibble.com Partnership
Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS), one of the largest national animal welfare organizations in the U.S., celebrated its 30th anniversary and shared the Freekibble.com and Halo partnership story with its community of hundreds of thousands of passionate pet parents.
The story, featuring the Halo and Freekibble.com regular food donations, was featured on the BFAS home page for a week, complete with great Halo product shots and comments about how the high quality of Halo food makes a difference to BFAS.
BFAS shared the story with its and 122,000 Twitter followers, generating dozens of retweets, and shared with its 540,000 Facebook fans, prompting more than 5,000 likes and 300 shares.
In addition, the story was promoted in their e-newsletter, which is distributed to more than 600,000 passionate pet owners.
